A Tale of Two Gardens
[LxPC #9] A slow-paced walk through the Tapada das Necessidades and the Tapada da Ajuda.
On May 17th, we embarked on a Tale of Two Gardens — a 7 to 8 km slow-paced through the Tapada das Necessidades and the Tapada da Ajuda. The title of this walk was of course a reference to Charles Dickens' Tale of Two Cities, a novel which opens with:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.
The participants were invited to make images inspired by this famous incipit (opening sentence). It is not clear whether anyone actually responded to this prompt, but nonetheless very beautiful images were made… and what more could you ask from a photo walk (as long as the drinks & chat part is also covered — and it was)?
