There is no set rhythm of publication for this newsletter that aims to collect and share photographs by members of the Lx Photo Community. Sometimes, it will be a collection of images made during one of our photo walks; and sometimes, there will be an invitation to send contributions on a specific theme.
In part inspired by reading Laura Pashby’s lovely book Chasing Fog, and in part inspired by the season, i was curious to see how our members had been capturing the mist.
‘I'm just there, floating, surrounded by an elemental force. Fog is a space and a sensation - somewhere to be, something to touch but never to hold. Its unpredictable momentariness means that every foggy instant is precious - an offering of sorts. I can't step out of the fog and come back to it later: it won't be there. There is only now, the present. Fog is meditation: a clearing of the mind, a condensing of the experience of the moment. In the fog is nothing but the rhythm of the breath and the counsel of the senses. To be in the fog is to surrender. This is where I am most myself - my true self, my fog-self, is who I find there.’
(Laura Pashby, in Chasing Fog)
Deadline extended: you have a few more days if you’d like to send images on the theme of impressionism => https://forms.gle/z81mftgouMJuBHF88
And i can’t end this short intro without giving a shout out to Paulo for his kind help verifying the Portuguese version of the presentation of Lx Photo Community.

Woke up, looked through the window: heavy fog…
Just about to stick to my routine of coffee and writing, then I thought of an ad for the National Lottery in Belgium, ages ago, when i was a kid — it said: “a 100% of our winners had bought a ticket.“
Taking the camera, leaving the house, going on the quest for light and shadow — you never have any guarantee, there is never any certainty that you will come back with good images.
But if you don’t go out, you can be sure that you won’t have any image at all.
Buy the metaphorical ticket, go out in the fog, chase the light.
