Greetings, fellow camera-people,
Sometimes the photowalks come with a suggested theme (or ‘challenge’), some form of light constraint that only serves to tickle the creativity. Starting in October, participants were invited to emulate the style of the famous painting movement, Impressionism, in their pictures. In other words, the idea was to run away from the tyranny of absolute sharpness and instead set on a quest for touches of light and colour.
There are different ways to achieve such effect:
option 1: with a ND filter, you manage to use a slow shutter speed: you can then do intentional camera movement ('ICM').
option 2: get an old, cheap UV filter and spread a thin layer of vaseline on it (only on the external side, that is) — and voilà, you're ready to make photographs à la Claude Monet.
option 3: cover your lens with something translucid, like a plastic bag or a piece of light fabric.
Here are some photographs made in that spirit (not all images were made during the LxPC photowalks).
